Charity Donation Update

In addition to the donations announced below, £800 was collected by Maureen Pitt for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust over the weekend of the 2013 Festival.

Roughly half of this was from cash camping payments over the weekend, donated by the Linton Festival. The other half was collected by Maureen during the Festival weekend.

A big thanks to all who donated over the Festival weekend to help the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

On 17 October 2013, the Linton Festival Organising Committee held their charity night during which cheques were presented to local worthy causes.  This is one of the main aims of running the festival and to date we have donated over £80,000 to charities in Herefordshire and Gloucestershire.

This year’s chosen charities were:

  • Hope for Tomorrow (£1,000), a national cancer charity dedicated to bringing vital mobile chemotherapy treatment closer to patients’ homes.
  • County Air Ambulance (£1,000).
  • Ross Hope Support Services (£1,000), a Herefordshire charity set up to support young people and children when a close family member is diagnosed with a life threatening illness.
  • A donation of £500 was also given to St. Mary’s Church, Linton.  The Church has a strong local support and runs a successful children’s Sunday Club in the Village Hall.
  • Cheques for £300 were also given to both the Linton Brownies and Lea Brownies.

During the evening, donations from the one day Linton Summer Sessions, held in August at the same venue, were also given out to worthy causes.  The landlord of The Alma Inn, Graham Webb, presented cheques to the total value of £1,000 to representatives from Beth’s Wish and the Linton Brownies.  Beth’s Wish has been set up to raise funds specifically for a young adult’s bedroom within the new build at St. Michael’s Hospice, Hereford.
