Information for Bands

If you want to play at Linton here’s how..

We like to think we champion the lesser known bands at Linton BUT we only have a limited number of slots, and the bar is set very high.

First thing is that we are a Blues / Rhythm & Blues centric festival. This is a wide spectrum that covers a whole range of musical genres spanning 50’s Rock n’ Roll to Indie, taking in Soul, Rock, Americana and Electric Folk along the way, but hopefully you get the picture.

We quite welcome bands that play around the edges; we like something out of the ordinary and don’t pretend we know it all. (look at the history page to see the bands we have booked previously).

We champion original music - cover / tribute bands won’t feature in the line up.

We are a Festival – we are looking for stage presence as well as great musicianship.

If you are a traditional Romanian gypsy taraf, traditional folk, country, hip hop, tribal dance, Drum ‘n’ Base, Retro, World or barbershop a capella quartet then there are other festivals. (If you have just featured on the ‘X’ factor then this may not be true – there is no hope for you!)

Anyway – if you think you make the grade - please send an e-mail into the Festival Bands mailbox, including the following information:

  • Subject line must state: Band Application: <your band name>
  • In the content please describe your band / style + anything relevant to application, why you think you are suitable for Linton.
  • Include MySpace or other website links to music samples.
  • Attach press pack if available.

What happens next..

We promise we look at each and every e-mail and check out website links / music samples.

Due to the volume of applications we cannot respond to e-mails (Linton is a voluntary activity, we have day jobs too). We will check out music samples.

If we are interested we may contact you to submit a CD, but will more than likely turn up at a gig (we always check bands out live).

The way Linton works..

CD’s / band shortlists will be discussed in the music committee. There are 4 voting members – you need 3 votes. Good luck and keep music live!
